About NorSTRA

Background

NorSTRA was formed in 2019 to support and develop surgical training and academia activities at the Norfolk and Norwich University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. It is led by an Executive committee with trainee representation.

At NorSTRA we are committed to offering the very best surgical training and research opportunities to support trainees, consultants and allied health professionals.

Courses

We hope to deliver a number of multi-speciality courses based on live operating as well as cadaveric courses. NorSTRA is committed to delivering high quality courses aimed at a range of levels from core, speciality and consultant level. Over time we hope to deliver courses in basic and advanced laparoscopic surgery, bile duct exploration as well as minimally invasive colorectal and oesophagogastric resectional surgery. We also aim to run a course for the FRCS exit examination in general surgery. The provision of cadaveric material is governed by the Human Tissue Act.

To allow us to deliver the best quality of courses and educational material we welcome any interest from industry partners who may wish to sponsor us. In return we are confident this will enhance valuable links with surgeons through interest & exposure to a varied surgical audience.
