Fellowships supported by NorSTRA

Upper GI Fellowships

The department of gastrointestinal surgery within NorSTRA currently supports two overseas fellowship posts within oesophagogastric and colorectal surgery. These are typically for post CCT level trainees who are close to applying for consultant posts within their specialty.

The oesophagogastric post is linked with the Australian & New Zealand Gastrooesophageal Surgical Association (ANZGOSA) and is usually for a senior trainee in their second fellowship year. Experience at operating and managing a wide range of operative surgery within both benign and malignant OG disease is available as well as advanced laparoscopic techniques and endosopic interventions. Some limited exposure to bariatric surgery is available through planned visits to centres of excellence such as Southmeads Hospital, Bristol.
